(WTVR) – A NASA camera captured video of a fireball outshining the moon, according to a report on Space.com. The video was shot Aug. 28 in Alabama.
The fireball, according to NASA, was a 100-pound asteroid.
“Recorded by all six NASA cameras in the Southeast, this fireball was one of the brightest observed by the network in 5 years of operations,” NASA’s Bill Cooke wrote in a blog post. “From Chickamauga, Georgia, the meteor was 20 times brighter than the full moon; shadows were cast on the ground as far south as Cartersville.”
