WASHINGTON (WTVR) -- A police boat slammed into two boats tied up at along the dock at Washington Harbor in Georgetown Saturday evening.
A D.C. Harbor Police boat, with lights flashing and sirens baring, crashed into two other boats docked at the Georgetown waterfront before turning back out into the harbor around 7 p.m.
No one was on board the two boats when they were hit.
One of the boats, which had a gash from the collision, partially sank.
A group of people were standing near the boats when the accident happened. One of them was recording on cell phone video when the crash happened.
Witnesses said harbor police took off quickly because they were responding to a distress call for people in the water.
"He did a full throttle and couldn't control it and crashed," a witness told WUSA.
Metropolitan Police and the U.S. Coast Guard are investigating the crash.
