RICHMOND, VA – The doors of a new Community Employment Center (CEC) will open in Richmond.
The center is located on the city’s Northside at 2606-B Chamberlayne Avenue. It will open Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 9 a.m.
This is one of four employment centers that Goodwill operates in the metro Richmond area. All are open five days a week; Mondays-Thursdays 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Fridays 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
The intention is to provide a broad range of job seeker and training services to the unemployed and under-employed in the area.
The organization intends to help assist area employers in finding qualified candidates for their existing job openings, and provide training options for their existing employees.
Goodwill said that last year these CECs served 14,454 individuals and placed 1,778 into employment with area businesses.
Resources offered include:
- Professionally trained staff available for one-on-one career planning consultations.
- Resume & interview preparation
- Online application assistance
- Mock interviews
- Job leads
- Job fairs
- Labor market information
- Career planning
- Vocational assessment
- Career management skills
- Re-entry workshops
- Free use of computers with Internet, telephones, fax, and copier services.
Goodwill has leased the space at 2606-B Chamberlayne Avenue for 5 years.
“We never wanted to stop serving job seekers and businesses in Northside and want to thank our partners for helping us to continue to provide valuable services these past 8 months. This new space will allow us to offer all of our career development services, which helps make individuals, families, and the Northside community even stronger,” said Charles Layman, President and CEO of Goodwill in a widely distributed press release.
