PHILADELPHIA (WTVR) – Sarah Murnghan, the 10-year-old Pennsylvania girl who received a double lung transplant, has made great progress, according to her mother Janet.
Murnghan told the Associated Press that Sarah was taken off oxygen but still needs help to breathe.
She also said that Sarah started walking around the hospital with a walker and has even stepped outside.
Earlier this month, Murnghan wrote on her Facebook page that Sarah will be transferred from the ICU to the progressive care unit at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Sarah’s case challenged national transplant rules after a federal judge allowed her to receive adult lungs. After her first set of lungs failed, she received her second pair three days later.
