HENRICO, Va. (WTVR)–This Saturday, August 17, you can get your pet an inexpensive rabies vaccination at a Henrico clinic.
The clinic will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Henrico County Government Center, located at 4301 E. Parham Road.
The shots cost $10 and must be paid in cash. A rabies tag and certificate of inoculation are included. Pets from all localities are welcome. Cats must be in carriers.
In addition, Henrico dog owners can obtain a one-year license for $10 or a three-year license for $15.
Under Virginia law, dogs and cats four months and older must be vaccinated for rabies. Henrico officers will be available to discuss vaccination requirements as well as dog-license options.
For comparison the price at local vets contacted by CBS 6 ranged from $20.50 (if pet was recently seen for physical) to roughly $40 for a visit and up to $27 for the shot. Price varies, so contact your vet.
Rabies increases in spring and summer. if you see any wildlife, leave it alone. If the animal appears to be aggressive or is acting strangely, contact Henrico Police immediately.
