CHESAPEAKE BAY, Va. (WTVR)—Commuters are upset to learn that crossing the Chesapeake Bay bridge is about to get more expensive.
The price is currently $12 to cross, and it will go up to $13.
Then during peak months it'll jump to $15 to cross the bridge connecting Virginia Beach to the Eastern Shore.
Drivers say they aren't too fond of the prospect of paying more.
“I feel like the little guy is getting squashed again,” said one driver.
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel commission voted to approve the increase at its meeting earlier this week.
The price hike goes into effect January 1.
