STAFFORD COUNTY, Va (WTVR) - Speaking through a translator, a Stafford County man pleaded not guilty to murdering a 17-month old boy he was babysitting.
Investigators charged Duc Chau with four felonies stemming from the death of the child in July. Chau told investigators the boy slipped and fell, but based on the extent of the child's injuries, Chau was charged.
During an arraignment in Stafford County Circuit Court on Thursday, prosecutors requested a four day trial since medical testimony in the case could take some time. No date was set due to scheduling conflicts. A status hearing on the trial date was scheduled for Monday.
A bond hearing for Chau was set for September 3 at 1 p.m.
Members of Chau's family were in court Thursday. The family and Chau's attorney declined to comment on the case following Thursday's hearing.
