STRATFORD HALL, Va. (WTVR) - In Virginia, crew just made the largest whale skeleton discovery ever, for this area.
Crews from a Maryland museum just completed excavating the skull of a baleen whale from the banks of the Potomac River in Stratford Hall, Virginia. It's a 15-million-year-old find.
The skull is six-feet long, meaning the animal was at least 25 feet in length.
The Calvert Marine Museum's paleontologists are continuing excavation to remove the rest of the whale skeleton.
