RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) - When it comes to hitting the road in the summer, AAA Mid-Atlantic said August 3 is one of the ten deadliest days of the year.
"It makes me realize I have to take extra precaution," said driver Unique Clary.
Along with August 3, the month has there other deathly days for people on highways. Those dates include August 4, August 6, and August 12. Drivers have an increased chance to be involved in a fatal crash because more people are out on the roads for vacation and weekend trips, according to experts.
When it comes to driving in Virginia, experts also say The Commonwealth ranks at number 16 in deadliest states to drive in.
"We are crazy, we drive with a mission," said Clary.
The overall deadly driving days of summer are between August 1st and Labor Day. But as a driver, Unique Clary told CBS 6 she always has her eyes on the road no matter what time of year it is.
"That's the best way to drive anyways, is to always be defensive," said Clary.
