COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WTVR) -- Over 20 wanted fugitives are off the streets in the Tri-Cities after a major crime sweep.

The Hopewell, Prince George, Colonial Heights and Petersburg police departments, along with the Dinwiddie Sheriff's Department, the FBI, State Police, ATF and U.S. Marshals rounded up 26 fugitives up as a part of a two-day initiative called "Operation Summer Splash."

Those fugitives were wanted for everything from malicious wounding and drug charges.

Police said they will continue their efforts until even more wanted suspects are rounded up.

The bust was a part of a regional partnership, which area law enforcement said they plan to use again to get future criminals off the streets.
