RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- Once ranked among the country's most popular governors among voters, Bob McDonnell is losing more support.
Democratic firm Public Policy Polling reported a 12 percent decline in McDonnell's approval rating in a new survey released on Monday. In fact, only 36 percent of voters indicated they approve of the job McDonnell is doing.
That's a 12 point drop from last month when 41 percent of voters polled said they disapproved of the job he was doing.
The steep decline comes amid more news about the FBI's investigation into gifts McDonnell and his family allegedly received from a campaign donor.
Last week, a new report alleged that Star Scientific CEO Jonnie Williams gave Gov. Bob McDonnell’s real estate company $70,000 last year. That brings the total of funds from Williams to $145,000.
In the upcoming election, 31 percent of voters said they are less likely to vote for a candidate McDonnell endorses.
