The $500,000 Virginia Derby (Gr. II) is the richest annual thoroughbred Horse Race in Virginia. Hanover County’s 35th Annual Hanover Tomato Festival is Saturday, June 23, from 9am – 4pm at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville. For sale Hanover Tomatoes in bags, in a box or on a sandwich and with 260 vendors selling everything from fried green tomatoes to tomato casserole there will be no shortage of tomatoes. The festival will also have a large children’s area, entertainment featuring Country Star Craig Wayne Boyd and a special 35th Anniversary Memorabilia tent.
