HOPEWELL, Va (WTVR)-- Hopewell Police arrested a man in connection to a deadly shooting outside the Hardee's on Winston Churchill Drive Monday morning. The U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force picked up Joseph Lemue Green, 62, of Prince George County, Monday afternoon. Green is charged with first degree murder and attempted murder.

Investigators said Green shot 39-year-old Velacita Jones and another Hardee's employee who came to the aid of Ms. Jones. Jones died from her injuries.

Employees said Jones was working at Hardee's Monday morning when she got into a fight with the suspect who entered the restaurant. The argument moved outside, and that is where witnesses said Jones was shot.

Police said Green had been in a previous relationship with Jones. Family members described the relationship as volatile.

The Police Media Release also says additional charges may be forthcoming.
