SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Spotsylvania Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a possible child abduction in the Holleybrooke subdivision. There is a large police presence in the area and deputies are posted at the neighborhood's entrance.

Spotsylvania County Sherriff’s Cap. Jeff Pearce said a neighbor reported seeing what looked like a 12 or 13-year-old child being abducted from the street.

CBS 6 reporter Catie Beck said deputies are interviewing people coming in and out of the neighborhood, asking them if they saw anything suspicious.

A public information officer told Beck investigators still have not been able to identify a missing child from the neighborhood.

Investigators said a witness saw a blue work van with a gray spot on the back stop next to the child. That witness, according to Pearce, may have seen a man in the van pull the child into the vehicle. The witness said the boy was hollering, according to a Fredericksburg.com report.

Police said the child is a white male, 5’1” and was wearing red and white striped shirt and blue cargo shorts. An amber alert has not yet been issued.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's department at 540-582-7115.
