HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Some regular visitors of Kings Dominion theme park said they're surprised to find out about an alleged groping incident at the pool Tuesday afternoon.
"You just have to really watch out where you go," said Scott Bledsoe, who was at the park Thursday with his family.
The Hanover County Sheriff's Office said a man is accused of groping a 20-year-old woman in the wave pool Tuesday afternoon.
According to Gene Petriello, a spokesman for Kings Dominion, a lifeguard on duty was alerted about the incident, and brought it to the attention of a security guard who questioned the man about the situation.
The Hanover County Sheriff's Department investigated and then arrested 20-year-old Ibram Mehanni with Sexual Battery.
"It just makes you feel like you can't be safe anywhere anymore nowadays, " Charles Lonigro told CBS6 News.
Petriello said the park has security officers during business hours on patrol to help keep visitors safe. Bledsoe said he's seen patrolling by security officers often during his visits to the park.
"Especially where all the little guys are, you just see more presence there than other places," he said.
As for how people will feel about the park in the future, it's a mixed feeling.
"I would have no problems whatsoever about going there or my kids going there," said Rose Schmitz.
"With stuff like that, you can never predict but I do feel a little differently towards it now," said Lonigro.
