LYNCHBURG, Va. (WTVR) - Fire Marshals in Lynchburg say a gas generator tipped over inside the back of a truck at the Marathon gas station off of Lakeside Drive Wednesday afternoon, resulting in a massive explosion that sent both the driver and passenger to the hospital.

Officials say when the men attempted to stand the generator up, gas dripped on the hot motor, igniting the fire.

One of those men, Lee Robinson, remains in the hospital after catching fire and being thrown several feet by the explosion.

The second man, David Jones, is recovering at home after being released from Lynchburg General hospital.
