CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – A rabid fox bit a woman "several times" outside of her Chesterfield home this week. The woman lives along the 13600 block of Quail Hollow Lane, near Swift Creek Middle School off of Old Hundred Road.
A neighbor helped the woman contain the fox until animal control officers arrived. Tests later showed the fox had rabies.
Animal Control advised people bring their pet food inside at night to prevent attracting wild animals to their homes. Anyone who spots an aggressive or sick wild animal in Chesterfield is asked to call (804) 748-1251.
The Chesterfield Health Department is holding a rabies clinic on Saturday, June 22, at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds, 10300 Courthouse Road. At the event, which will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., rabies vaccinations will be available for dogs and cats for a cost of $8 per animal. Click here for more information.
