CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WTVR)–Two Chesterfield crashes temporarily closed lanes off Route 150 this afternoon.
First, Virginia State Police responded to a single vehicle crash this afternoon on Route 150 southbound at Belmont Road in Chesterfield County.
The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. after the passenger side rear tire blew on a 1987 Ford pickup causing the driver to lose control, said Sgt. Thomas Molnar. The vehicle overturned and came to rest onto the driver’s side.
Police said that the male driver,age 21, suffered minor injuries and was transported to VCU Medical Center. He was wearing his seatbelt.
The left and center lanes were closed for approximately 30 minutes.
Then, at 3:44 p.m., state police responded to the second crash that occurred just north of the first crash. The second crash occurred when the driver of a 2011 Dodge 1500 attempted to change lanes and struck the rear of a 2007 Chevrolet pickup, police said.
The female driver of the Dodge suffered minor injuries and was transported to Chippenham Medical Center. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured in the crash. He was wearing his safety belt.
The left and center lanes were closed for approximately 30 minutes.
The crash remains under investigation.
