RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)-- A Richmond woman charged with killing her newborn baby will remain in jail. For the second time in a week, a judge has denied bond to Shavaughn Robinson.
The 27-year-old mother has been in lockup since the end of May, after police arrested her for putting her newborn in a Richmond dumpster.
Investigators said Robinson gave birth to a baby girl inside a bathroom while at work at the Lee Medical Building off Monument Avenue. Police said Robinson then discarded the newborn in a dumpster behind the building. A cleaning crew later found the child’s body.
Robinson has been charged with first degree murder, and will go on trial in October.
