Petersburg officer convicted on DWI charge

HENRICO COUNTY,  Va. (WTVR) — A Petersburg police officer convicted on a first offense, driving while intoxicated charge will spend five days behind bars for the crime.

A Henrico County judge sentenced John Dixon IV to to six months in jail with five months and 25 days suspended.  The judge also suspended Dixon’s driver’s license and fined him $531.

Dixon was pulled over in Henrico for drunk driving in January. Prosecutors decided not to pursue the other charges refusal of blood or breath test and failing to obey a traffic signal.

However, those charges could be pursued later if prosecutors find sufficient evidence.
