RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – A Texas man who brought a loaded gun to Richmond International Airport was allowed to continue on his trip, minus the weapon, the
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced Thursday.
TSA agents found the loaded .32 caliber handgun at an airport security checkpoint last Friday. TSA spokeswoman Lisette Garcia said the man told agents he’d forgotten about the gun in his bag.
The man was cited on a “state weapons charge” and continued on his flight to Dallas.
Garcia said the incident did not impact airport operations.
The TSA wanted to remind travelers they are allowed to travel with “properly packed” unloaded guns stored in checked baggage. Click here for more information about traveling with guns on airplanes.
