CHARLES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – It’s a day parents look forward to; their child’s graduation. But some local parents said they missed seeing their children accept diplomas because of what they were wearing.
A concerned parent contacted CBS 6 via email and said she and other parents were turned away while trying to enter Charles City High School’s graduation on Saturday because they were wearing jeans and tennis shoes.
We contacted the school’s principal, who said parents were told about the dress code in advance. She also said parents who did not meet the dress code were given the opportunity to watch the graduation from a separate auditorium.
