(CNN) — After getting caught with his eyes closed during a press interview earlier this week, we thought it looked like Morgan Freeman was sleeping.
But the actor’s since revealed that he was doing something way more high-tech than simply squeezing in a little shut-eye.
The 75-year-old was speaking with Seattle’s Q13 Fox News on Wednesday morning about his new movie, “Now You See Me.” Accompanied by one of his co-stars, Michael Caine, Freeman seemed to nod off during the chat, with some of his “blinks” appearing suspiciously long.
And when the cameras caught Freeman with his head to his chest after a segment of “Now You See Me” aired, his fatigue was pretty evident. Yet in a statement, Freeman says that we’ve got it all wrong.
“Regarding my recent interview, I wasn’t actually sleeping. I’m a beta tester for Google Eyelids and I was merely taking the opportunity to update my Facebook page,” he said, on Facebook, naturally.
Caine carried on throughout Freeman’s apparent mini-nap on Wednesday, and the actor didn’t stay down for long. Within seconds he lifted his head back up, and soon matter-of-factly fielded another question without a hint of drowsiness.
“Now You See Me,” about a group of magicians who use their tricks to stage bank heists and then distribute the money to their audiences, opens May 31.
