RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)--The SWAT responded to a Richmond apartment complex after reports of a mental subject making threatening comments, said Richmond Police spokesperson James Mercante

Next, a standoff  with the SWAT team prompted an evacuation of the area. The apartment complex is located at Fairmount Avenue and 1300 N. 19th Street, in the Mosby area.

Police were contacted around 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening. A neighbor heard an individual they believe to be mentally-ill muttering threatening things to himself. SWAT team members used a number of different protocols to get the man to exit the apartment.
