(WTVR) – A Hawaiian woman is grabbing a lot of attention for a short film she shot with some great white sharks.

The film maker, Kim Werner, hung on to the dorsal fin of a great white shark as if it were a friend’s hand.

“My hand reached out and grabbed her dorsal fin and we just started to glide together,” Werner said.

Later in the video she said, “I know she could have eaten me at any second, but in this moment we were just two animals.”

The video was filmed last fall with the hope of raising the profile of the environment.

According to the National Geographic, great whites account for between 20 to 50 percent of shark attacks each year.  However, most are non-fatal.
