Woman found alive after 17 days under rubble

(WTVR) — A woman has been pulled out alive from a collapsed garment manufacturing building in Bangladesh with only minor injuries.

According to Bangladeshi newspaper, The Daily Star, Reshimi was found alive in the basement of the nine story building. Rescuers gave her water and food as she was taken to the hospital. She has been there for 17 days.

Crews say they were about to break a large slab of debris when she was discovered. That’s when the use of all heavy machinery was stopped.

However, most have not been so lucky. The death toll in one of Bangladesh’s worst industrial accident’s ever has passed 1000.
