VIDEO: ‘Ice chandeliering’ in Minnesota

Posted

PLYMOUTH, Mn. (WTVR) - It may be spring, but old man winter is still full of surprises.

He put on a spectacular show on Medicine Lake in Plymouth, MN.

The video shows large piles of ice splintering into fine shards like glass.

Some call it "ice chandeliering," and it happens when ice is brittle due to sun and warmer temperatures and reaches the state where ice first crystallizes, then splinters.
