RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — Richmond leaders are taking steps to make sure some of the City’s most historic sites aren’t forgotten.

Mayor Dwight Jones and the City’s Slave Trail Commission unveiled the new Liberty Trail on Friday.

It is a 6.2 mile pedestrian route that highlights some of Richmond’s most historic sites. A two mile stretch of the pathway also connects up with Richmond’s Slave Trail.

The City also unveiled bronze markers along that stretch of the trail. Those markers will tell the story of slaves who passed through Richmond in the 18th and 19th Centuries.
