RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – A blast from the past at the box office. Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park” returns to theaters Friday, this time in 3D.
The 1993 blockbuster tells the tale of a reserve off the coast of Central America where dinosaurs have been cloned.
Of course the premiere itself is a clone from 20 years ago, when WTVR asked people living in Richmond how a timeless fascination with the prehistoric would impact ticket sales.
The film’s June 1993 release shattered a number of box office records and kicked off the glorious second act of Spielberg’s illustrious career. It might have helped that a movie only cost you $3.75 back then.
