NEWPORT NEWS Va. (WTKR) — Two 13-year-old boys are facing felonies after police said they spiked their teacher’s drinks with hand sanitizer.

The alleged incidents occurred at Hines Middle School in Newport News.

The school’s resource officer first received information about the alleged poisonings in January and started an investigation.

The officer then contacted the Newport News Police Department’s Special Victims Unit, which conducted a thorough investigation.

The teens were arrested on March 6.

Police also said the 66-year-old teacher was seeing her doctor because of health problems.
