RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- Democrat Terry McAuliffe has officially entered the race to be Virginia's next governor.
The Democratic candidate handed in more than 35,000 voter signatures to the State Board of Elections Wednesday. That's well above the 10,000 signatures needed to run for office.
Presumptive Republican gubernatorial nominee Ken Cuccinelli does not have to file petitions with the State Board of Elections.
The state GOP has decided to choose their candidate for governor at a convention, instead of allowing voters to choose during a primary election.
