VDOT said crews were out in full force treating and plowing major routes, but that pavement temps would drop to below freezing overnight.

As a result, numerous crashes were reported across the area Sunday afternoon and evening. In fact, at one point there were over 100 reports of accidents in Richmond, Henrico and Chesterfield.

CBS 6 News' Joe St. George caught up with one woman who ran off the road along the Patrick Henry Parkway. She said she was thankful to have insurance -- and warned other folks to stay off the road.
