AMELIA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - The Grandparents Luncheon has been postponed again. Those setting up for Monday's big event at Amelia Academy spent a couple of hours on Saturday, preparing the gym for 300 people.

Then, less than 30 minutes after the last person left, the roof to the gym blew off in Saturday evening's storm. The National Weather Service called it a micro-burst.

The 49-year-old private school, opened its doors Monday morning for classes, thanks to a community that turned out Sunday morning to pick up and haul off debris.

Only Pre-K classes were cancelled.

The Grandparents Luncheon was postponed the first time, last October, when Hurricane Sandy threatened the area.

The luncheon and a ceremony to honor the boys and girls varsity basketball teams, who won the state championships for division 3, will be held at another date.
