Chopsticks could be thing of past for China

Posted

After at least 4,000 years  the Chinese are being urged to put down the chopsticks and pick up a knife and fork instead.

The chair of a state-owned lumber company says the sticks are destroying forests.

He says China goes through 80-billion pairs of disposable wooden chopsticks every year an equivalent, he says, of 20 million trees.

He's urging the national people's Congress to take action.
