(WTVR) – All travel lanes are now reopened on Interstate 95 after bridgework caused a traffic nightmare over the weekend.
Interstate 95 was closed down to one lane for bridge work between the Boulevard and Belvidere exits this weekend.
At some points over the weekend, delays were up to three miles long on both north and southbound lanes.
Crews were expected to be done around 6 am this morning but V-DOT reported an early finish saying all lanes were reopened around 3:30 am.
The weekend construction was to replace the southbound Overbrook road bridge but there is still work to be done to fix the northbound part of the bridge.
VDOT is planning on making those restorations starting at 8 p.m. Friday March 15th lasting through 6 am Monday March 18th.
