RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) --VDOT is urging drivers to find another route along I-95 this weekend. Bridge repair work will take place between the Boulevard and Belvidere exits on Interstate 95.

“Most of the bridge work people are familiar with, we've been doing over the weeknights. In this particular case, work has to be done over the weekend,” says VDOT spokesperson, Dawn Eischen.

Eischen says the work must be completed over the weekend to allow crews more time because of interfering power lines.

Work will begin Friday, March 1 at 8 p.m. and last through  6 a.m. on Monday.

Only one lane of traffic will move through in each direction during the bridge work.

Drivers should check to make sure the work is done before Monday morning’s commute.
