CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A Caroline County cat had to be rescued after it was caught in the act of committing the purr-fect crime. We're told this cat was rummaging through someone's trash last night when it stuck its entire head into a jar of peanut butter.
A homeowner called 911 after noticing the cat struggling to free itself from the jar.
"I'm calling to report, there's a cat in my yard and it looks like the face is stuck in a jar and it won't move," the caller said.
"Okay," the dispatcher said after a pause.
"So what are we supposed to do about it?" the caller asked.
The dispatcher sent Caroline County Sheriff's Deputy M.L. Lewis to the home to investigate. The deputy was able to free the cat.
"At great risk and without regard for his personal safety Dep. Lewis rushed in and with only a pair of wire cutters and a courageous sense of duty was able to save a life from impending demise," Caroline County Sgt. Heywood said with a smile.
