Surry County, Va. (WTKR)--– A runaway dog that was shot in the nose has been reunited with her owner.
The Surry county dog, Leia, had slipped away from her owner Kristin Kessinger. She was discovered with a gun shot wound, with blood coming from the snout. An x-ray revealed that the bullet went through the dog’s head, and several pieces were left in her head.
“I really didn’t think she was going to make it,” Kessinger said.
Leia was taken to the animal hospital and survived surgery. Kessinger says that Leia still has some trouble breaking, and isn’t as hyper as normal, but veterinarians says she should be fine.
Now questions remain about the dog’s attacker.
“My first reaction, honestly when I found out she was shot, was anger,” Kessinger said. “Because who could shoot a dog?”
