Robin Sachs, the London-born actor commonly associated with the science fiction genre, has died at age 61.
He was a villain on the cult-show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, scripted as the arch enemy of Giles, who was played by Anthony Head.
His character Ethan Rayne first appeared in Season Two of the show, in the episode called “Halloween.” He opened a fancy dress shop to entice youngsters in for their trick or treat costumes.
Sach’s birthday was February 5. On his official website, staff wrote: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Robin Sachs.”
The staff also wrote: “Please join us in raising a glass to Robin – goodbye, dear friend. Thank you for all the laughter and the cookies. We will miss you so very much.”
TheHuffington Post reports that Sachs actually died on Friday, February 1.
