Goochland gravel spill

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Police charged a truck driver after a gravel spill closed a section of Patterson Avenue near the Henrico-Goochland line, according to Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Molnar.

The lanes, which closed shortly after the 11:00 a.m. crash, have since  reopened.

Molnar said the truck driver, Leon Dimmie,  58, of Palmyra, was driving a 2000 Peterbuilt Dump Truck eastbound on Patterson Avenue (Route 6) when he ran off the right side of the road. The driver then over-corrected and crossed the center median, Molnar said. As a result, the dump truck overturned and dumped gravel all over the road.

Dimmie suffered minor injuries. He is charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain proper control of his vehicle, Molnar said.
