(CNN) – An incredible historic discovery in England was confirmed today.
British scientists announced this, skull found in central England, is almost certainly that of Richard the III.
The University of Leicester (les-ter) released this photograph ahead of its announcement.
Archaeologists found the body of a man buried beneath a parking lot in Leicester last year.
The scientists say DNA tests confirm “beyond reasonable doubt” the bones belong to the long-lost king.
They made the link using the DNA of a relative of the former king.
It’s said the king died in battle in 1485.
Richard the III was made famous to later generations in Shakespeare’s play of the same name.
