(CBS) - The U.S. flu outbreak is leveling off. The Centers for Disease control now says 47 states are reporting widespread flu activity - down from 48 last week. Cases are still on the rise along the West coast, and more than half of the country is still getting hit hard.
"We’re seeing a large number of patients with flu-like symptoms," Dr. Theodore Bania from Roosevelt Hospital said. "It may take a little longer to be seen, or be treated because there’s a large number of patients."
Health officials recommend people 65 and older go straight to the doctor if they're suffering flu symptoms - even if they've had a flu shot.
