RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Last year proved to be another record yet for Virginia ABC stores.
The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control said it made more than $132 million in profits at its 335 stores during the last fiscal year. The agency also said wholesale and retail sales increased six-percent.
In total, Virginia ABC stores sold more than $4 million cases of wine, spirits and liquor in 2012.
The reasons for the increase are unclear, but this 2012 was the first year some state-run ABC stores have been open on Sundays.
