SHANGHAI, China (WTVR) - You may have second thoughts about letting your children tap on an aquarium's glass after a freak accident in China.
Security video from last Tuesday shows a massive aquarium at the Shanghai Orient Shopping Center exploding.
People nearby were struck by the tank's thick glass and gallons of water, along with sharks, as the structure came crashing down.
A make-up counter on the other side of the tank in the mall was crumbled. In fact, the clerk inside had to be rescued by customers.
Sixteen people were hurt in all, one with serious bone fractures. Six sharks died.
Investigators think a combination of factors including the age of the aquarium and temperature differences between the inside of the aquarium and the exposed outdoor glass, caused the glass to shatter.
