If you miss your flight on Southwest Airlines next year, expect to pay for it.
Usually if a customer misses their Southwest Airlines flight they can get a credit for the full amount of the ticket to use on a later flight.
But soon Southwest Airlines will start charging passengers an extra “no show fee.” The fee will apply to passengers who buy an advance-purchase, restricted ticket and don’t cancel the ticket before their flight.
The amount of the fee was not announced.
The Dallas Morning News reported that Southwest executive vice president Bob Jordan said it has decided “to tighten the flexibility around our most restrictive ticket.”
You’ll be charged if you miss your flight and don’t cancel ahead of time.
The exact price of the fee hasn’t been decided, but it is expected to bring in an extra $300-million annually for Southwest.
