CNN reports that a family member of suspected shooter Adam Lanza told investigators that he had a form of autism. That information is cited from a law enforcement official, who spoke under condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the investigation.
CBS reports that Lanza was a honors student, though somewhat reclusive and shy.
“We would hang out, and he was a good kid. He was smart,” Joshua Milas, a Newtown graduated said. “He was probably one of the smartest kids I know. He was probably a genius.”
Additional reports on Lanza’s mental state cite his brother as a source. CBS said that RyanLanza told authorities that his brother was believed to suffer from a personality disorder.
