(WTVR) - Forest officials and villagers come together to save an elephant in India this weekend.
The poor guy was trapped in a mud pit, he had been there since Wednesday.
While the elephant continued to struggle for its' freedom, poachers made the most of the opportunity and cut off his tusks.
Weak after days of struggling and no food, he was unable to pull himself out of the mess when rescuers arrived Saturday.
Officials finally were able to successfully get him out, they say he is doing well and has been given vitamins to help strengthen his bones.
