RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)_-A Southside neighborhood was been evacuated Tuesday night because of a gas leak.

Investigators said that an old gas line ruptured, but that the leak has been stopped.

Because of the potential threat to people who live in the area, crews evacuated the 4000 block of Norborne road, and part of old Warwick road between Clydewood and Hopkins.

Evacuees should be allowed to return to their homes shortly. Many were without heat late Tuesday night, and would likely be throughout the night.

Crews first came out to the neighborhood on Monday for reports of a gas leak.
