Driver carjacked at gunpoint and forced into trunk

Posted

RICHMOND, Va (WTVR)--The victim was pulling up to a stop sign in the 2600 block of Ford Avenue, when a gunman walked up to the driver side window.

Demanding his wallet and cellphone, the suspect then forces the driver out of the car and into the trunk.

He then drives away.

Richmond Police say it happened around 12:30 Wednesday morning and it was a few minutes later, when the victim told police, he was able to escape from the trunk around the 1900 block of Fairfield Avenue.

Those who work and live in the area say, the crime is unusual for the quiet neighborhood, but not surprising considering the time of year.

Many say they believe crime will go up with the holiday season.

Richmond Police say the suspect did not provide a description of the suspect and no arrests have been made.
