RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) - Officials are investigating the vandalism of the Robert E. Lee statue on Richmond's Monument Avenue.
The words "beef cake" were spray painted on three sides of the statue's base some time over the weekend. The words were still there late Sunday night. A capitol police officer was there checking out the damage at the time.
This is not the first time the statue has been vandalized.
In January 2012, the words "five-o" were spray painted on the monument. Back in April 2011 the words "no hero" were tagged on its base.
